As many of you know, along with the cashiers at Publix, The Mailman, Landscapers, Garbage Collectors and quite frankly, anyone who will listen or at least pretend to listen, I have been preaching that we need to do all that we can to restore our property and increase our property values.
Although we can't control our National Economy, we do have some control over our property values. Replacing rotten siding, proper conditional landscaping and overall maintenance will increase our aesthetic value, therefore increasing property values. Many professionals have stated that curb appeal is one of most important factors to selling a home.
While some of us may be struggling to pay our bills and purchase food and gasoline during these very trying times, there are many people waiting for our property values and resale prices to drop a little further so that they can invest in some of these homes and use them as rental properties.
The above photo is a rental property at 27 Tarragona Court!! Yes right here! I spoke to the renter and mentioned that he may be in violation of our rules with his AC in the window. He stated, "The only rule that I have to follow is pay my rent". What control do we have over renters? Can you imagine our property values with situations like this all over our property?
In order to prevent this, or at least to reduce this practice, we must be vigilant to the needs of this communities curb appeal. If you know that a neighbor is having tough times, let us all know. As a community we may be able to pool together resources to help each other.
There is nothing that I want to see more than a real sense of community, neighbor helping neighbor. At the very least, don't you want to know your neighbor?

Comment: "Keith, thanks for this. Once again, the rentals rule! I truly believe that a renter can do just about whatever they want. I am sure there are some wiring issues inside this unit as well. We should be thankful for having responsible people around us. Your letter was well put and I think most should agree. Thanks for bringing it together."
