As we approach the birth of our country, one must realize that if it wasn't for a group of volunteers coming together for the good of all, that July 4th may be just another day.
If anyone has ever followed the story of the Revolutionary War, One would realize that the supporters of this revolution had one common goal, remove us from the tyranny of British rule and unfairness. In the beginning there was a small group that formed a "committee" of volunteers that spread their word throughout the community in order to gain support for their cause. Although at these meetings there was often debate, differences of opinion, private muttering, and in some instances anarchy, the goals and objectives never changed.
To this end, the birth of our Nation came to be. In hindsight, one must realize that if it were not for a small group of "Committee Members" having the foresight to realize that there was a better way to live, and most importantly, taking the steps to implement a plan, freedom may not "ring" today.
History has shown that community involvement and committees are the way to creating ideals that no one man can ever accomplish solely. To this end we ask that you, as residents become involved as a Conquistador Advocate and help us to help you. We need volunteers to help create and enact a comprehensive landscape plan as well as helping to protect our neighbors in the event of an emergency.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Boards of the Shores Service Corp, Conquistador Condos, and The Greens for their participation at our Hurricane Preparedness workshop on June 25th. It clearly showed that community spirit is alive. It is time for "ALL" of us to give to others what has been selflessly given to us.
I would like to wish you all a happy, safe and enjoyable Independence Day. As you are barbecuing with friends and neighbors remember, Independence Day would not have occurred without committees. As you reflect back on the birth of our Country think about one thing, it very well could have been called "Committee Day".
In order to make this community great, it takes active community involvement and a "Committee" Please contact me and get involved.
HAPPY COMMITTEE DAY
Happy Committee Day!
